Magnum was created at the Hop Research Center in Hüll, Germany from a cross between Galena and an unnamed German male variety. Released in 1980, Magnum is very vigorous, high-yielding and stores very well, and for this reason is quickly increasing in popularity in Europe and the US. Magnum is used predominately as a base bittering hop, with subtle citrus flavours making it a great choice for lagers and pale ales.
Wilt tolerant but susceptible to powdery mildew.
Magnum will grow to approx. 15-20 feet once mature.
